The Strathkelvin Railway Path was identified as a significant missing link in local path infrastructure in a feasibility study undertaken as part of the Sustrans Community Links programme. The route improvement has been a long-standing priority under several strategic active travel and green corridor plans, including those of the Seven Lochs Wetland Park. The location of the route in relation to the Seven Lochs Wetland Park and proximity to wider network in East Dunbartonshire and Glasgow will allow local residents to safely walk or cycle between villages and provide greater access to the wider off-road cycling and walking network in the area.
TGP were commissioned to complete Stage 2 design work to create an accessible walking and cycling route joining Moodiesburn / Chryston to Glenboig, allowing for wider active travel links within the Northern Corridor.
