3A’s Grantown
The Grantown Society appointed TGP to assess the feasibility and potential for implementing town-wide cycle infrastructure to address a number of safety issues.
The town has evolved over the last couple of centuries to feature narrow roads without footpaths, which are often accessed by delivery HGVs – all of which combine to make non-vehicular circulation hazardous, resulting in short school run journeys being made by car.
The feasibility identified 19 potential areas for improvement, of which 6 have been taken through to concept design in order to create a safer route to school from residential areas in the southwest of the town to the schools in the northeast.
This includes the introduction of footpaths along roads where they are absent, providing safe havens where junctions are presently dangerous and reducing vehicle access in favour of pedestrian priority areas.
