TGP in collaboration with Baker Hicks worked on the SPS Maryhill Community Custody Units project which aims to enhance the sense of continuity between interior and exterior spaces as part of a holistic view to Site design. This has included the consideration of sight-lines from windows towards focal points / artworks within the garden areas, consistent use of materials and colour palettes between interior and exterior spaces, as well as the potential continuity of interior and exterior planting as a means of linking the different spaces. In this way, the benefits associated with the exterior spaces will also exert a positive influence on interior spaces, and vice versa. Green space will be an important component of the design proposals providing outdoor amenity to assist with the mental and physical well-being of the prisoners.
