TGP were commissioned to carry out the landscape design for a new residential unit for adults with learning disabilities, at the Camphill Village Trust facility at Larchfield near Middlesbrough.
Liaison was carried out with Niven Architects as lead consultants and on a one to one level with clients and their families to fully understand their needs and requirements during the development of the landscape proposals.
The project enabled the design team to develop a genuinely inclusive approach to design.
“The garden areas are also bespoke, with attention given to the requests for colour schemes, sensory and physical needs….. He was in his own words ‘overwhelmed’ and he welled up when seeing how the input he and others had given had resulted in what he hopes will be a home for the remainder of his son’s life. The personal touches, including the swing in the garden with his son’s name on, were something that he had only dreamed of”
Mike English, General Manager (Larchfield & Croft Communities), Camphill Village Trust.
