The proposed site is located at the rural edge of West Kilbride extending south from Meadowfoot Road between the B7047 and railway corridor and would be viewed predominantly from the west (road corridor) parts of the settlement edge to the south west. Given the location of the proposed development at the rural edge, it will be important to provide an appropriate landscape structure sympathetic to the rural backdrop, thereby facilitating the successful absorption of the proposed development into the receiving landscape. This will be achieved by creating a landscape framework that will ensure an integrated approach to amenity, connectivity, bio-diversity, ecology and drainage and development, which takes its cue from the existing setting by creating attractive new woodlands, paths, parks and wildlife areas.
