The designs included circular footpaths, seating, raised beds, shelters and handrails, all of which benefit and make the space comfortable for people suffering with dementia, as well as those who care for them.

Research has shown that the stimulus of gardens and being out in the fresh air, close to nature, can help those living with dementia, making them less agitated and confused. The garden has been designed to provide opportunities for exercise and socialising, allowing people to engage in familiar activities, such as gardening, that can make the most of their strengths that are still present and give them a feeling of self-worth and being of value to the community.
