Hunterston, North Ayrshire Landscape Planning

North Ayrshire Planning Committee have approved the proposal for the creation of a salmon rearing facility at Hunterston.

TGP were involved in early concept design and collaboration with Denham Youd Architects, Cundall Engineers, Atlantic Ecology and Mcinally Planning Consultants to produce plans for Bakkafrost’s Recirculated Aquacluture System (RAS) for the creation of a salmon farming facility.

The complex will include buildings for various stages of fish development. The surrounding landscape is designed to create a focal entrance point and a Cormorant roost area, whilst being conscious of the close proximity to the Southannan Sands SSSI. This SSSI supports one of the best examples of intertidal sandflats habitat.

Specified plants are robust, salt tolerant species which will thrive in this location, create seasonal interest and enhance the seating area at the building entrance.
