Gynackgate is a Cycle Friendly Kingussie project looking to help make cycling and walking safer and more accessible in Kingussie. A new direct link from Gynack Park to Kingussie Primary School is set to be established, as well as improvements to Gynack Park which will allow it to serve as a hub for National Cycle Network Route 7 and the recently extended Speyside Way. The project is being led by Kingussie Community Development Company, with support provided via Sustrans’ Places for Everyone programme. Design proposals, provided by TGP Landscape Architects, include new seating arrangements and an accessible plaza for the park where locals can host and promote community events. The project is now moving towards the implementation phase and will be the first community-led Places for Everyone funded project to be delivered so far in Scotland.
