The Wallsend Parks £7.8 million project included the restoration of 3 parks dating from the C19 including Wallsend Hall Grounds, Richardson Dees Park and the Arboretum and funded through the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Parks for People Programme. TGP provided the Conservation Management Plan, specialist planting design at the development stage and lead consultant services at the delivery phase.
The works included major lake restoration, improvements for access and maintenance, extensive new play area; tree management, re-establishment of a lost granite monument, pathways and entrances; extension of bowls pavilion to provide new café/toilets; refurbishment of bowling greens; and new planting.
“TGP provided an excellent service both as the design lead and project managers for the restoration of Wallsend parks. Sensitive and imaginative design solutions have given the Council, an urban park that has become a destination in its own right, significantly contributing to the wider regeneration of Wallsend town” Mark Robson, Regeneration Project Manager, NTC.
