TGP have recently completed the LVIA for the proposed Distillery at Craggan, Grantown-on-Spey in association with Gordon and MacPhail. The Site is located in the River Spey strath, within the Cairngorms National Park. The LVIA took cognisance of the sensitivity of the local landscape in the assessment of potential effects on the Special Landscape Qualities (SLQs) of the National Park, as well as those on the visual amenity of local residents and visitors. As part of the process, the assessment considered the embedded landscape design proposals (also developed by TGP), which incorporated native woodland and tree planting in combination with native wildflower meadow and marginal wetland areas. The residual effects, based on establishment of proposed planting by year 10, identified a reduction in the levels of effect in some cases, as well as beneficial effects on selected National Park SLQs.
