TGP were appointed by Scottish Water through Blyth and Blyth to establish the location, and undertake detailed design, for a new footpath near Daldowie Water Treatment Works to the south east of Glasgow. The route was located within an area of Ancient Woodland designated as a GCC Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC). The woodland location presented a number of ecological constraints including mature trees, badger setts, bats and Japanese knotweed. TGP designed the footpath route to ensure the minimum disturbance to existing trees and utilised our ‘no dig solution’, to construct a robust and structurally stable path, that is fully porous, utilised low bollard lighting to minimise light pollution and eliminate any cross contamination of the root-zone soils. The design and completed footpath have been extremely well received by the client and users alike.
